It looks like you put heaps of effort into your list and getting the pictures would have taken you a while! Good job! Keep it up

    :)

Your list is quite fascinating and I must say that the pictures and links helped me to better understand the uniqueness of Australia. I was wondering though, as a teacher living in Pennsylvania in the United States what the significance of the AFL and the NFL were in Australia. In the United States I translate those acronyms as the National Football League and the American Football League. Is that what you meant?

I like your list but who is Rupert Bunny? What does “oi” mean? I liked your pictures too.

    Hi Pat!

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog post! :D

Rupert Bunny is an artist in Victoria, I dont know much but all you have to do is Google him!!

“Oi” is just a word that I think is very Australian, have you ever herd the Australian saying “Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oi, Oi, Oi!?”

When I read about Myer, it sounded a lot like Target. I saw that Target is in Australia – are they similar or different?

  6.   adri17 Says:

    Hi Linda!

Well AFL in Australia is Australian Football League, but not the American Superball or anything! It’s totaly different.

NFL is the same thing just National Football League and again is not like anything to do with American football.

Maby this web-site will help explain better, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Football_League.

  7.   adri17 Says:

    Hi Matthew!

Myer is a larger department store and offers a bigger range of stock, and more upmarket products.

Although they are both similar in some ways.

After looking at your list, I can see that I have some learning to do! There were too many of them that I didn’t know!

  9.   Matthew K. Tabor Says:

Thanks for responding – I know how it can be tough to keep up with blog comments quickly.

It sounds like our Targets are slowly becoming your Myers. Here we have Wal-Mart, which is huge and handles the inexpensive things, so Target has tried to become more classy to avoid competing with them.

What an awesome list, you have obviously worked very hard on this project. I’m not too sure that I’d like Kangaroo pies either, I think kangaroos are too cute to eat. I teach 10 year olds over in Auckland, New Zealand. I just had one thought though, ANZAC stands for Australian New Zealand Army Corps – so does that make ANZACs uniquely Australian or unique to Australia AND New Zealand? What do you think?

    Hi Mrs McGhie!

I totaly agree with you, Kangaroos are way too cute to eat!

UMMM… I have like NO idea about the ANZACs thingie, sorry. :(

  12.   Ann Oro Says:

I am so glad that you left an explanation about AFL and NFL. I’m also from the United States and thought about our football leagues. It’s funny how those initials can mean two totally different things.

I never knew that people *ate* kangaroo. What do people say it tastes like. I don’t think I would be able to eat it.

  13.   adri17 Says:

    Hi Ann!

I have no idea what it tastes like and would like to keep it that way! Although Mr. Wegner on the other hand, has tried it, maby you could ask him?!

I have had the opportunity to have a taste, but after my class mate Rachel did, and ended up rushing to the toilet, I had second thoughts! (I was never going to anyway)
